- The OLEV works on the principle of inductive charging.
- An electromagnetic field is used to transfer energy between two objects.
- It works on the new technology developed by KAIST called"SHAPED MAGNETIC FIELD IN RESONANCE (SMIFR)". This technology allows electric vehicles to transfer energy from the road surface while on the move. The power comes from the cables called POWER STRIPS, buried under the road surface, creating magnetic field. A receiving device installed on the under-body of the OLEV converts this magnetic field into electricity. The length of the power strips installed under the road is generally 5%-15% of the entire road.
